I purchased my 1970 Piper Cherokee in May of 1981. It was white with red trim and big red numbers. The top of the fuselage was a very dark blue. In the summer it got so hot you couldn't touch it. In May of 1988 I had it stripped and refinished with Imron as you see it today. In September of 1989 I replaced the interior with new carpeting, wall panels, uphostery, and a hat shelf pad. It was all done in blue to match the trim paint on the plane. In June of 1997 I had the original MK12B radio removed and a new MK12D/R installed. To date, 56U has flown 235 Young Eagles and hopes to fly many more.
