This Month's Program: Maine to Alaska in a Glasair Sportsman
Andy Roberts is joining us on Sunday, August 16. Andy is a member of our Chapter and in 2024 he spent a month flying his Glasair Sportsman solo, VFR, from Maine across Canada and all over the Yukon and Alaska. He had no itinerary and camped most nights. When he got home he wrote a 52-page Private Pilot Guide for First Time Flyers to Alaska, and he gives it away free to any pilot who wants it. His talk covers the routes north, what to bring, the procedures involved, what you should know about flying in Canada and Alaska, and what he learned the hard way. Come with questions — Andy has the answers most of us only read about!
Happy Anniversary
EAA Chapter 27 is 70 years old this year! We'll have a big party at our Chapter picnic on September 20. Stay tuned for more news throughout the year. If you have thoughts on ways to commemorate this auspicious anniversary, send them to any of the officers.
I hope everyone is well and only largely inconvenienced these days. Obviously with the Covid 19 pandemic we have to change our plans like everyone else. The April meeting is canceled. The days are getting longer but it is still cold. If you are not flying much I hope you are getting your plane ready and/or planning trips for later this year. The hangar project is moving along. Be aware planes in hangars and on the ramp will be moving all over the place to accommodate construction...
I hope everyone is recovered from the holidays and back to a comfortable routine. We had a great party at the Manor Inn. Seems like everyone enjoyed the good food and conversation. We held our officers meeting January 11th. We talked about a number of things which we will report on at the next meeti...
